Finding the Right Vehicle
The right accessible vehicle depends on how you will use it. Answering a few questions first will make your search much easier and help you avoid buying a vehicle that does not suit your daily life.

Start with the people. Who will ride in the vehicle, and how often? Think about passengers, drivers and anyone who will need to get in and out with help. Next, consider the wheelchair itself: its size, weight and whether it is manual or power. Then think about transfers. Will you transfer from your chair to a seat, or will you stay in your chair while you ride? These answers point toward the right seating layout and entry type.
Entry type matters a lot. Side-entry vehicles are often easier to park near, while rear-entry vehicles can suit tight spaces better. Lift systems can handle heavier chairs. Check the ramp or lift operation too, since automatic and manual systems feel very different in daily use.
Think about cargo as well. If you carry a folding chair, a walker or equipment, make sure there is room for it without blocking the entry.
Before you visit, write down your must-haves and your nice-to-haves, set a realistic budget, and note any questions to ask. When you visit, sit in every seat, use the ramp or lift yourself, and bring a helper if you need one.
